Amy Howard at Home Classes in Greenville, SC

Hi Folks!

Just a reminder that my Class Schedule is a permanent fixture on this little ‘ol blog.  Just click on that “Workshops” tab up there…see?

For April I have two Paint Your Piece classes.  This coming Saturday, April 11th and Tuesday, April 28th.  (They are both held at Palmetto Home & Garden, 2422 Laurens Road in Greenville.)

You bring your own small piece (I recommend a lamp, small side table, chair, stool or home decor item), pick out your paint color and completely give it a makeover in class.  You leave with a brand new piece of furniture!

But, you say…I only have this great big dresser/hutch/buffet/bedroom suite I’m wanting to refinish.

Gulp! Help me, Rhonda!

No problem!  Bring a drawer (or two) and I’ll help you pick out color and walk you through the process so you’ll have confidence to go home and tackle the rest of it!

Now why would you take a class with me rather than just getting the paint and doing it yourself?  Good question!  One Step paint is sooo user friendly and you could definitely grab a can, start painting and be totally okay…

Paint glory...

Paint glory…

BUT…I’ve been a furniture painter for over 15 years and I have some tricks up my sleeve that I will share with you.  Also I know my Amy Howard product.  I will teach you…

  • The easiest way to distress a piece when you are using One Step paint
  • How to mix this paint properly so it’s smooth and creamy
  • How to use that durn wax!  (You will leave a pro!)
  • How to get a smooth, even finish with minimal brush strokes
  • Prepping your piece for paint and what to do if you have bleed through
  • The one time you would want to sand before painting
  • Plus I will talk about the many uses of One Step paint around your house.  It will blow your mind when you start thinking about what can be made over rather than replaced!   (hint:  old linoleum, upholstery, concrete)

Plus…hello??  It’s fun!  I have The Best customers and love teaching and we about laugh ourselves silly.  You will leave with furniture AND friends.

So what are you waiting for?  You have two opportunities this month to get your paint on!  If you’d like to sign up for this Saturday’s class, shoot me an email at

  1. Hey Mary…I’m convinced! What a great idea to just bring a drawer from a large piece and get started that way. Sharing this article on the PHG page!
